The military defense practice at Britt, Hankins & Moughan, provides clients with a uniquely effective combination of decades-long experience in a tough Philadelphia-based litigation practice and fresh experience in successfully defending serious allegations in the military justice system. We are dedicated to providing outstanding service to our clients and obtaining the best outcome possible for them.
Our associate, Brian George , practiced law in the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General's Corps. Our associate, Mary McCarthy, practiced law in the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps. As JAGs and, later, Defense Counsel, they prosecuted and defended military members accused of crimes ranging from D.U.I. to illegal drug use to sexual assault to attempted murder. They successfully litigated cases, obtained favorable plea agreements, and secured alternative dispositions for their courts-martial clients.
They also vigorously defended clients in non-judicial punishment actions (also known as Article 15s or Captain's Mast) and succeeded in getting many of these actions dropped or obtaining a not guilty finding. They successfully defended members in administrative discharge notification actions, administrative discharge boards and other adverse administrative actions.

Our practice includes representing military members from all services in locations throughout the continental United States (CONUS) in: summary courts-martial, special-courts-martial, and general courts-martial; non-judicial punishment actions under Article 15 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (also known as Captain's Mast); administrative discharge or separation actions; members under investigation; and any other adverse judicial or administrative actions.
We also assist members who are currently in absent without leave (AWOL) status in negotiating their return to military control. We strive to obtain the best possible conditions of return for these members and can also assist them in any administrative or disciplinary action that results after their return to military control.
Finally, we also assist current and former military members in correcting military records, upgrading discharges and pursuing other actions through the services' discharge review boards and boards for correction of military records.
If you are under investigation, pending disciplinary action, are AWOL, have been accused of a crime, or are attempting to correct your military records, please contact Mr. George directly at (215) 569-6949 or bgeorge@britthankins.com or Ms. McCarthy directly at (215) 569-6910 or mmccarthy@britthankins.com for a free initial consultation.
